This is a Commission for
I was asked to make an Overbust corset in the simple Victorian style similar to my Blue Gingham Overbust, but from the lovely MacDonald of the Isles Tartan. Now, Im a big big fan of Tartan and this is my first ever work using it and I must say, matching up the main stripes (white and red) was quite difficult and required a lot of planning, sewing, unpicking and patience. But I love it, and may have to make one for myself when I have enough money to pay for the tartan!
Black coutil lining, spiral steel bones, two part eyelets and a steel busk. The Tartan has been interfaced with heavy weight interfacing because it was only 8oz Tartan. A lot of Tartan was used to get the seams matching and sadly, there was more waste then I would have liked. The binding is black taffeta to match the black in the pattern, green made the corset look a bit... inframed?? I dont know, it just didnt look right.
Hope you guys like it, once agin the pictures are rubbish because Im working with a rubbish camera and dont yet own a tailors bust (next major purchase!).
