Please excuse the awful quality of the picture. I'm no photographer and I had the most rubbish light!
This is a Commission for who asked me to make a corset for her in her Fiances Tartan. This Tartan is MacPherson Ancient.
The corset went together pretty easily, took a while to get the shape just right as it cant be too deep at the lower front otherwise it would be uncomfortable the sit down in. I really want to be unprofessional and try it on because (although the images here are a bit rubbish) it looks as though it would be comfortable to wear and really slinky.
Construction stats: Time: Around 12 hours for this as it was harder to match the plaids. Cost: For the fabrics and materials it ended up me around £45 to make (but purchased her own fabric). Black Coutil base with 11oz tartan and an interfacing for the middle layer. Double boned in all the seams and along the grommets with spiral steel boning. Steel busk. Blue ribbon to match the light blue in the Tartan.
What I love about his corset most of all is the binding. I used strips of the tartan (tried to get the bluey bits but it was a bit difficult) and hand sewed the binding, and even though it obviously doesn't match in I still think it looks wonderful. I'm considering doing the binding this way for all my future tartan corsets.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. And I love the blue ribbon with the tartan, it really brings out the bright colours in it.
